Tanning bag for drying skins placed and stretched on a tan in the form of a hollow or bag blanket of grease and moisture absorbent material
Prior art
The present invention relates to a tan bag for use in drying the leather side of skins which are placed on, extended and held to a hollow elongated tan in the extended position during the drying procedure, and wherein the skin is held in the extended position by means of a holding bag, which is pulled over the hair side of the skin and at least over a portion of the lower end of the skin, wherein the holding bag presses the skin against a holding area of the tan with an open structure, the system further comprising a sleeve or bag item of the kind used for covering a tan, and wherein the sheath or pouch member is comprised of a tubular sheath or pouch item made of a grease and moisture absorbent material and intended to be drawn on the tan from the pointed end of the tan.
The use of a fat-absorbing sheath or pouch blank to cover tans used in drying fur from fur animals is well known. The fat-absorbing hollow or pouch item, often made up of paper, serves to protect the tans, which often consist of wood tans. In the past, ordinary newsprint was used to wrap the tans before they were provided with skins to be dried. However, the newsprint was difficult to remove after drying the skins, and for this reason tubular bags of paper later developed to be pulled over the tan, as stated in DK 1996 00208 U. From the same utility model registration, it is also known to perforate the paper material from which the bags are made, to improve air flow during the drying process.
2 2DK 2011 00181 U3
When placing skins to be dried on the tans, the skins are expanded to obtain a neat skin, the size of which according to the drying procedure is very decisive for the selling price obtainable for the skin. Thus, in order to retain the skin in its extended position, 8-15 staples are still used and operated through the lower end of the skin and into the tan, whereby the skin at the end of the drying process essentially retains the length to which it is extended. However, staples leave holes in the skin, reducing its value. In order to avoid this problem, a method has been developed for non-destructive drying of skins, as can be seen from DK 174 865 B1 and the corresponding US 6701756 B2, comprising a holding bag which, when the skins are extended on the tan, is pulled over the tan with the inner bag and the skin, so that the bag presses against the hair side of the skin, thereby producing enough friction to reduce the number of staples to two or none, resulting in no significant damage to the skin (few holes compared to the previous). Alternatively, if a skin of a smaller size category is acceptable, the skin has no holes at all from staples.
However, the size category of a fur used in the fur industry is very crucial to the price that a fur grower can obtain at a fur auction. Just a single size category can mean large sums in the fur grower's earnings, which is why further advances have been made in the drying technique to obtain both a larger size category of dried skins and holes without holes due to the use of staples for fastening. of the skin in the extended position on the tan during the drying procedure. The problem with the use of the known wood tins, which consists of a flat, tapered board, in combination with a holding bag as stated in DK 174 865 B1, is that the holding bag produces friction for the retention of the skin mainly in the areas around the narrow sides of the board, ie . the pressure resulting from the holding bag on the board's side surfaces is negligible, thereby allowing the skin around the tail root, the back skin to crawl during the drying procedure, and therefore the above two staples are used to secure the skin in these areas.
A similar system is disclosed in WO 86/00091 A1, where a moisture and grease-absorbing casing of a paper-based material for a tan covers the tan substantially over its entire length.
Purpose of production
To solve the above problem, a tane has been developed which has a convex structure both longitudinally and transversely as well as in height, which typically consists of two interconnected convex plastic half shells with an open / perforated structure, whose peripheries along the sides define a cavity which, via an opening at the tan foot, communicates with an arrangement (not described further herein) for replacing the air inside the tan in connection with the drying procedure. The half shells comprise a holding area, the half shells surface of the side facing the leather side of the skin comprising a corrugated / slotted / grooved or other roughness substantially oriented across the longitudinal axis of the tan, whereby the pressure exerted by the holding bag exceeds a smaller area of the tan is more effective due to the greater friction produced, the leather side of the holding bag being pressed against the corrugated / slotted / grooved or other roughness found in the holding areas.
This has led to the skins being sought extensively into even larger size categories, whereby the problem of fastening the skin around the tail root has again become relevant. In addition, during practical tests with the holding bag in combination with the newly developed tan, it has been found that the strong pressing of the leather side of the skin towards the holding areas does not sufficiently dry the parts of the leather side in contact with the tan during the drying procedure, thereby For example, there is a form of decay of the skin, which thereby becomes black, and condensation of the liquid extract on the hair side of the skin also occurs, which is of course undesirable. This problem is particularly pronounced in skins which are thick in leather and in skins which are badly scraped. To solve this problem, the prior art coating bag, which extends substantially over the entire length of the tan, could be operated, but this would be quite superfluous, since the construction of the newly developed tan allows for a much more efficient / rapid drying of the tan. the skins than previously were possible by applying tan bags to wooden tans, where the use of said tan bags would probably solve the problem but cause an undesirable extension of the drying time of the skins. In addition, the presence of a tan bag around the locations of the skins where they are in three layers will impede an optimal air flow and hence drying of this area of the skin.
However, upon production, it is realized that the problems of insufficient retention of the skin around the tail portion and insufficient drying of the leather side of the skin in the holding region can be solved by using a tan bag as described in claim 1, which is new in that the hollow elongated tan comprises a first and another half-shell having a convex surface with a very open structure in the form of holes, the half-shells defining a cavity open at the foot of the tan and in which air can be exchanged through the opening at the foot end of the tan and the open structure through natural openings in the skin, wherein the holding area comprises a subarea of the surfaces which are rough, corrugated or grooved, and the casing or bag blank has an extension to cover at least 1/3, but preferably Ά of the extension of the holding area on the tan, and so that it covers part or all of the holding area of the tan.
A number of preferred embodiments of the tan bag are set forth in claims 2 to 10.
5 5DK 2011 00181 U3
The hollow elongated tan comprises a first and a second half shell having a convex surface with a very open structure in the form of holes, the half shells defining a cavity open at the foot of the tan and in which air can be exchanged through the opening at the tan foot and the open structure through natural openings in the skin, wherein the holding area comprises a subarea of the surfaces which are rough, corrugated or grooved, and that the tan bag formed as a hollow or bag blank has such an extent that it covers only the holding area of the skin. the tan or part thereof.
A tan bag, in which the sleeve or bag item has such an extent that it covers only the holding area of the tan or part thereof, can be pulled on the tan.
This results in a greater frictional force between the leather side of the skin and the tan holding area, which means that after the drying procedure, a straight line of measurement is obtained at the lower end of the skin around the tail part, while the moisture accumulated in the leather side of the skin in the holding area and more specifically. where the skin is pressed into contact with the surface of the tan itself, by the capillary action of the fat and moisture absorbing material, can be removed by replacing the air in the cavity bounded by the half shells. The moisture is extracted from the grease / moisture absorbing material during which the exchange of the air is carried out, thereby effectively avoiding the aforementioned decomposition of the skin, which becomes black, and the moisture extraction on the skin's hair side is effectively avoided.
A further advantage of using the tan sheath or sachet according to the invention is that it further absorbs residual fat on the leather side of the skin in the holding area, which means that this area of the tan is not saturated, as would otherwise result in reduction of the frictional forces, as well as this area of the tan will not be saturated, which means that the 6 tan 2011 00181 U3 tan will be easier to handle.
Furthermore, a relatively short length sleeve / bag item relative to the known bags may be sold at a reduced price, and the bag is easier to remove from the tan and skin after drying has been completed.
A further advantage of the hollow or bag blank according to the invention is that its length is considerably smaller than the known full length bags, which will facilitate automation of the application of the hollow or bag blank to the tan, namely in places where the ceiling height is relatively small.
In order to provide an increased flow of air between the tan bag item or casing according to the invention, this can be made of a perforated, fat and moisture absorbing material.
In order to be able to produce a tan sheath or bag item according to its manufacture at a competitive price, the fat and moisture absorbing material may be paper.
In order to achieve effective extraction of grease and moisture from the leather side of the skin, the tan casing or sachet may have a conical shape so that, upon withdrawal from the pointed end of the tanemod, the foot end can be contacted with relevant portions of the tan holding areas. Hereby it is achieved that the tan bag according to the production remains in place in the holding area of the tan during the stretching of the skin.
The drawing
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which 7 DK 2011 00181 U3
FIG. 1, right view is a side view of a traditional tan on which a tan bag has been drawn, and the left image is a modern tan with holding areas partially covered by a tan sheath or bag item according to the invention; 2 is a detail view of the lower end of a modern tan showing the tan's foot and holding area; FIG. 3 is a detail view of a modern tan showing the holding area provided with a tan sleeve or bag item according to the invention, and FIG. 4 is a detail view of the embodiment of FIG. 3, on which a skin is placed and extended and retained with a coating holding bag.
Description of the embodiment In fig. 1 shows examples of two types of tans. To the right is seen a traditional tan 2, on which is drawn a known tan bag 4, which in the illustrated embodiment consists of fat-absorbing paper. On the left is seen a modern tane 6 comprising a retaining area 8 partially covered by a tan sleeve or bag blank 10 according to the invention. The modern tane 6 consists of two convex half shells 12 which are interconnected and have surfaces 14 which have a very open structure in the form of holes 16. Together, the half shells 12 define a cavity open at the foot 18 of the tane 6.
FIG. 2 is a detail view of the tan 6 showing the lower end of the tan 6 and the foot end 18. As can be seen in the figure, in this embodiment of the tan 6, a portion of the tan is closest to its footing 18, the half-shell surfaces having a corrugation 22 extending along the longitudinal axis 24 of the tan.
8 DK 2011 00181 U3
FIG. 3 shows a section of the embodiment of FIG. 2, where a portion of the retaining area 8 is covered by a tan sleeve or bag blank 10 according to the invention.
FIG. 4 shows the tan sheath or bag item 10 according to the manufacture in use. The image shows the lower end of the web 6 in the holding area 8, where the web 6 is first provided with a coating or bag blank 10 of grease and moisture absorbent material, perforated (not shown) paper shown. Over the tan sleeve or bag item 10, on the tan 6, is applied and extended a mink 26 which is held in place by a perforated plastic coating holding bag 28. As shown in FIG. 4, the holding bag 28 comprises an area 30 near its end where the inside diameter of the bag is smaller than the other parts of the coating holding bag 28. In this area 30, the hair side of the mink skin 26 is pressed in the direction of the tan 6, thereby pressing the leather side (not shown) against the tan sheath or pouch 10 with relatively high force so that both the tan sheath or pouch 10 and the leather side of the skin are pressed down into the recesses 32 of the corrugations 22 in the retaining region 8, thereby providing effective retention of the extended sheath 26 during the subsequent drying process, which takes place upon replacement of the air within the cavity of the tan, typically by blowing air through the aperture to the cavity at the foot of the tan 6. The blown air diffuses out through the holes 16 in the region of the tan at the jaw portion 8 of the skin (not shown) at the opposite end, the tip or top end 34, cf. First
The effect of the tan sheath or bag item 10 of the invention is that residual fat and moisture will be drawn from the fat and moisture absorbing material, the paper. The moisture will evaporate and be carried away by the exchange of the air in the cavity under the holes 16 under the paper / envelope or bag blank 10 inside the tuck 6. The sleeve or bag blank 10 thus acts like the prior art paper.
By absorbing the remaining fat from the leather side of the leather with the sleeve or bag blank 10 according to the manufacture, a better frictional force is obtained between the holding region 8 and the extended skin 26, which is thereby held in its extended position during the drying process.
Advantageously, the casing or bag blank 10 may also be formed of perforated paper, which will help to increase the transport of moisture away from the paper.
The sleeve or bag blank 10 in the illustrated embodiment is tapered in its shape, similar to the tapered sleeve shape 6. The sleeve sleeve or bag blank 10, 10 which is significantly shorter than the traditionally known tan bags, cf. 1, is intended to be pulled over the tuck 6 from the pointed end 34 with the largest opening diameter facing the foot of the tuck 18. The sleeve or bag blank 10 is pulled over the tuck 6 until it wedges onto the outer surface of the holding area 8, where it covers part of this area. In a non-illustrated embodiment, the tan sheath or bag item 10 may be constructed to cover the entire holding area 8. However, the embodiment shown is the preferred one, the length of this tan sheath or bag item being sized so that it can be used for skins. in most sizes.
